What: HeartBrokers
Where: Victoria Gallery
When: Saturday October 24th, 7:30pm
If you’ve kept up with our blog, you’ll know about our friends at AlieNation and their Breakout-esque immersive piece as part of On The Verge festival this week.
Another group who have caught our eye are the AR-tea Collective and their two-part HeartBrokers piece. Pop-ups throughout the week are free, culminating in a Saturday night auction at the Victoria Gallery where audiences are invited to contribute romantic mementoes of bygone days, sharing stories about their nob of an ex before auctioning them off (good riddance oh God not the crumpled cereal bar wrapper!!)
Our love lives represent our most intimate and painful memories, and more than the objects themselves, I’m interested to see how audience participants react when faced with their own, and another’s, sentimental baggage. Can they laugh off memories with a brave face, or will sharing stories and relinquishing things once worth more than gold prove draining?
My fake flowers (because they’d never die, aahhh) shoved to the back of the wardrobe might be a good contribution and provide closure to my memories of Tom Twat the Second, but I don’t think I quite have the heart just yet.
PS: Tom the Third has proven lucky, so far.
